Team Purdin are celebrating their first ever Grand Champion Award following Tony & Mandy Barkers victory at the recent Birmingham & West Midlands Show where their Sansai Purdin Sanke beat off serious victory to take Grand Champion placing.


The success is notable for several reasons. Not only did the 67cm Sanke see off stiff compeition from Koi produced by Torazo, Matsunosuke, Marudo and Shintaro but also much bigger Koi! The three year old Sanke drew significant positive comment from BKKS head judge Alan Coogan who was especially impressed by the Koi's stunning skin quality, body shape and impressive white skin.

To complete an impressive haul of awards the Barkers also were awarded size 3 Kokugyo (best in size irrespective of variety) with their amazing Purdin kohaku.

The Kohaku has been grown by the Barkers since it was a Tosai and as you can see by the photos improvements in body shape and, skin quality is especially impressive

For years we have been blown away by the sheer quality of Purdin Koi and this win, which as far as i know is the very first time a Koi produced anywhere other than Japan has ever won a BKKS Show, confirms Purdin's position among the Koi worlds premier league!"
